Everyone’s earning from Facebook: Here's how you can get started too

The first time I opened my bank statement after receiving a Meta payout, I felt a strange blend of excitement and exhaustion, the kind of exhaustion that comes from living in a country where getting paid for online work feels like a maze of bank forms, verification links, and rules that never seem written with us in mind. In Bangladesh, we create, we post, we hustle, and yet, we constantly feel starved of proper avenues to receive payments or file documents smoothly, and on top of that, it stings a little to know that people in North America often earn far more for the exact same piece of content.

Still, the moment the money arrived in my bank account, I realised that, despite the hoops and the paperwork, this was genuinely useful income. It is not life-changing, but it is real money that can help with bills or groceries or simply give you the comfort of knowing that the hours you spend creating content are not disappearing into the void.

With millions of Bangladeshis active on social media platforms, the potential is enormous. According to recent reports, Bangladesh has around 60 million active social media users as of early 2025, which is roughly one-third of the country's entire population. Another estimate suggests that more than half a million local creators now have at least one social media account with ten thousand followers or more. These numbers tell a clear story: there is a huge audience here and a growing creator ecosystem that is pushing through every barrier.

When you first decide to sign up for Meta's content monetisation system, the process is surprisingly simple once you know where to look.

You start by switching your profile or page to "Professional Mode", which unlocks the Professional Dashboard. Inside that dashboard, you will find the Monetisation section, where Meta shows whether you are eligible based on follower count, community standards, engagement levels, and policy compliance. If you qualify, you can activate the available tools, such as in-stream ads, bonuses, or subscriptions, and you will then be asked to connect a payout account. For me, it meant adding my information, confirming my identity, and agreeing to Meta's payout terms.

Once these steps are completed, any eligible post or video you publish automatically begins tracking its earnings, and you can view the incoming amounts directly from the dashboard whenever you want.

When I activated monetisation and checked my Meta Professional Dashboard, it struck me how cleanly everything was laid out. The dashboard shows your earnings, payment history, upcoming payout dates, and the exact bank account connected to your profile. You can download your payout statements directly, track performance, see which pieces of content are generating revenue, and manage your monetisation tools from a single place. For creators who often feel lost between apps and forms, having this dashboard feels like finally getting a map.

After receiving the payout, my bank asked me for certain documents through a web portal. I provided the payout statement and my NID. Since I do have taxable income in Bangladesh, they also asked for my tax return copy, which I submitted. If you have filed taxes before, this is simply the annual return that shows the income you declared to the National Board of Revenue. The bank asks for it because digital income still needs official verification, and once they have it, the process moves along smoothly.

This might sound tedious, but once you understand each document, nothing feels as intimidating as it initially seems. The payout statement confirms the incoming amount. Your NID or TIN verifies your identity. Your tax return copy proves you are already part of the formal income system. Once these are in place, receiving money from Meta becomes a normal part of your banking routine.

It is also worth remembering that even if the payouts are smaller compared to what creators in the United States or Canada receive, the value here is still significant. For many Bangladeshi creators, this becomes a steady side income that can genuinely help with daily needs or give them breathing room to experiment and grow. In a landscape where traditional job options can be limited or low-paying, digital earnings feel like a small but meaningful doorway to independence.

So, if you have been wondering whether you should create more or even start at all, consider the hundreds of thousands of Bangladeshis who already have. They record, they write, they joke, they sing, they share, and they get paid for it. Even if the amount is modest, it is real. It counts. And it grows with consistency.

Everyone is earning from their Facebook posts. The question that remains is simple: why aren't you?
