Rising measles cases in Pabna leave children in hospital corridors amid bed shortage
Overcrowding at 250-bed hospital as most patients are children; many infected despite vaccination
The number of measles cases in Pabna is rising steadily. At the district’s 250-bed General Hospital, patients infected with measles have been admitted in numbers several times higher than its capacity.
Most of the patients are children. The children’s ward is so overcrowded that there is hardly any space left. As a result, many children have been accommodated in hospital corridors.
Authorities are struggling to manage the situation. Most concerning is that many children are being infected with the virus despite having received vaccinations.
