Level Five’s ‘Semicolon’ is an urge to embrace life
Have you ever found yourself on the precipice of despair, contemplating the idea of leaving everything behind and vanishing into the shadows? Yet, somehow, you muster the strength and resilience to cling to life and the people who surround you. In the haunting words of Level Five's upcoming song, "Semicolon", "Keu theke jaay, keu chole jay" (Some go away, some stay), a powerful message is delivered, serving as a reminder of the emotional turmoil that engulfs us when we lose a loved one.
In a unique collaboration, the popular indie band Level Five has joined forces with the mental health organisation Mindspace to host an awareness event, titled "Breaking the Silence: A Semicolon Story". The event, which aimed to shine a spotlight on the critical issue of mental health, featured the soft launch of Level Five's upcoming track, "Semicolon".
The event took place at the Yamaha Music Store in Tejgaon on Saturday afternoon. An insightful mental health session was organised for the participants before they enjoyed a series of live performances by Level Five, Old Dhaka Diaries, Angel Noor & Friends, and Aynus Moholla. The intimate indoor gig was designed to create a homely atmosphere, allowing participants to connect on a personal level.
Level Five's forthcoming song, "Semicolon", is a poignant exploration of mental health themes, addressing the challenges, struggles, and eventual triumphs that individuals encounter on their journey toward mental well-being. With its soul-stirring lyrics and heartfelt melody, "Semicolon" seeks to create awareness and inspire hope in those dealing with mental health issues.
The choice of title, "Semicolon", carries profound symbolism. A semicolon represents the continuation of someone's life despite facing adversity—it symbolises strength in the midst of a storm. In the context of mental health, it serves as an affirmation of solidarity against a myriad of challenges.
While the spotlight naturally shone on Level Five, the event also showcased the exceptional performances of Old Dhaka Diaries, Aynus Moholla, and Angel Noor.
The collaboration between Level Five and Mindspace serves as a reminder of the power of music and community in addressing critical issues like mental health. "Breaking the Silence: A Semicolon Story" exemplifies the ability of art to touch hearts and foster understanding while promoting conversations around mental well-being.
"Semicolon" will be officially launched on October 10 on all music platforms.
