Ready for the new iPhone? What Apple might announce tomorrow

Apple is set to host its annual September event on Tuesday, September 9, with the keynote beginning at 11 pm Bangladesh time. The event, titled 'Awe Dropping', is expected to introduce the new iPhone 17 series, alongside possible updates to the Apple Watch and AirPods. Here is a brief rundown on the main things you should expect, based on current industry rumours and speculations.
The standard iPhone 17 is anticipated to feature a larger 6.3-inch display, up from the 6.1-inch screen on its predecessor, according to a report by MacRumors. The new iPhone may also include a 120 Hz ProMotion display, a feature previously reserved for Pro models, offering smoother scrolling and responsiveness. Under the hood, the device is likely to be powered by Apple's new A19 chip and could include an upgraded 24 MP front-facing camera. The design is expected to remain similar to the current iPhone 16, with a familiar dual-camera layout on the rear.
A major highlight of the event may be the introduction of an all-new model, the iPhone 17 Air. As suggested by its name, this device is rumoured to be exceptionally slim, measuring just 5.5 mm thick, making it the thinnest iPhone ever made if rumours turn out true. This new iPhone model is also expected to feature a 6.6-inch OLED display and a single-lens 48 MP rear camera, positioned within a distinctive horizontal camera bar. To achieve its sleek profile, the iPhone 17 Air may incorporate compromises such as a smaller battery, rumoured to be around 2,800 mAh, and the use of Apple's first in-house modem and Wi-Fi 7 chip. It could be positioned as a mid-tier device, priced between the standard iPhone 17 and the Pro models.
The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are rumoured to receive significant design and functional upgrades. Both models may feature a new pill-shaped aluminium camera bar that spans the width of the device, replacing the traditional square camera bump. Internally, they are expected to include the more advanced A19 Pro chip, 12 GB of RAM, and vapour chamber cooling technology to improve thermal performance. Camera enhancements could include a 48 MP telephoto lens capable of up to 8x optical zoom on the Pro Max, along with support for 8K video recording. The Pro models may also use a new scratch-resistant anti-reflective display coating for improved durability.
Beyond the iPhone, Apple is likely to announce new Apple Watch models, including the Series 11 and an Ultra 3 model with satellite connectivity and health features such as blood pressure monitoring. The third-generation AirPods Pro may also debut, with rumours suggesting new health sensors and a live translation feature.
As with all pre-launch speculation, these details should be treated as tentative. Apple's official event will provide a comprehensive and accurate overview of all new products and features.
