Apple's iPhone Pocket accessory sells out hours after release
A new wearable iPhone accessory from Apple and Japanese fashion house Issey Miyake has sold out within hours of its launch, as per reports from Bloomberg and Forbes. The product, called iPhone Pocket, sparked queues at select stores and saw online inventory rapidly depleted following its release last Friday.
The iPhone Pocket is a knitted, stretchable pouch designed to hold an iPhone and other small items like AirPods. Created through a collaboration between Apple and luxury fashion brand Issey Miyake, it features a distinctive ribbed texture inspired by the fashion label's signature pleating techniques. Priced from $150 to $230, depending on the strap length, the accessory can be worn multiple ways - carried by hand, tied to bags, or worn directly on the body.
The limited distribution contributed to the product's rapid sell-out. Apple made the iPhone Pocket available at only ten physical stores worldwide, with locations including New York's SoHo, London, Paris, Tokyo, and Milan. Customers reported stores selling out within minutes of opening, with online supplies also quickly exhausted.
The launch continues Apple's recent expansion into phone accessories, following September's release of a cross-body strap that turns the iPhone into a miniature handbag. As per reports on the product, the collaboration taps into Issey Miyake's design heritage and its historical connection to Apple through Steve Jobs' famous black turtlenecks, which were created by the same fashion house.
