Apple's iPhone sales increased 22% in China
Apple recorded a 22 percent rise in iPhone sales in China during the first month of the iPhone 17's release, according to a recent report by Reuters.
The figures, published by research firm Counterpoint, show that the latest iPhone lineup accounted for nearly 80 percent of all Apple handsets sold in the period following its launch on September 19, 2025.
The surge marks a sharp reversal from the previous year, when sales in the first month of the iPhone 16 release fell by 5 percent. This year, crowds gathered outside Apple's Beijing flagship store on launch day, signalling persistent demand for the brand even as it faces growing competition from local manufacturers such as Xiaomi and Huawei, as per the Reuters report.
Overall smartphone sales in China declined by 2.7 percent in the third quarter, reflecting weak consumer sentiment and a cooling market. Despite these conditions, Apple's performance suggests that its latest model continues to attract buyers in the Chinese market.
