Math Made Fun

Platform: Android

Brain Equation is a puzzle game that lets you test your mathematical and problem solving skills. Developed and ideated in Bangladesh, this app recently won the runners-up award in the Education and Learning category of the National Mobile Application Award 2016 and I, for one, am hooked to it.

The game starts off with a colourful UI and initially, you wouldn't expect it to be a game that requires so much brainstorming. It is based on the four basic operations of Mathematics - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. There are 5 difficulty levels, and the game claims to have more than 150 puzzles.

Once you open a game, a timer will start and you will have to fill up the white cells in the puzzle with accurate digits to complete the equations horizontally and vertically. As easy as it sounds, I personally found it very challenging as well as intriguing to actually solve the problems, especially ones under the Expert level. I found myself focusing entirely on the puzzle and tweaking with numbers, which is not something that I regularly do on my phone.

It's a fun game but I think for beginners or for people who are not very keen on math, it might help if there were certain hints while playing the game. Having said that, if you want to see the fun side of math, Brain Equation is definitely worth an install.
