EC approves 58 appeals on second day of hearings
Election Commission (EC) today approved 58 appeals, on the second day of hearings on returning officers’ decisions regarding the submission of nomination papers for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
According to EC data released this evening, of the 71 appeals heard today, seven were rejected while six were kept pending.
Among the appeals, the EC declared the submission of Md Mohiuddin, an independent candidate in Munshiganj-3, as valid. His appeal had initially been marked pending during the first day of hearings.
Candidates and their representatives appeared before the commission to challenge decisions on the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers.
The hearings were held from 10:00am to 5:00pm at the EC auditorium in Agargaon, Dhaka.
Between January 5 and 9, a total of 645 appeals were filed on returning officers’ decisions made during the evaluation of nomination papers.
Hearings began on Saturday and will continue until January 18.
