Shafiqul Alam has returned to journalism after serving for one and a half years as press secretary to the chief adviser of the interim government.

He has joined a new English-language daily, The Daily Waadaa, as its editor.

Shafiqul shared the news in a verified Facebook post this morning.

“I've joined a new English newspaper, The Daily Waadaa, as its editor. Seek your doa and blessings,” he wrote.

When asked about the ownership of the newspaper, he declined to comment and told The Daily Star, “You are journalists. You can find it.”

He said the newspaper has already received its registration.

Shafiqul added that the former deputy press secretary to the outgoing chief adviser, Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, has also joined the same newspaper.

In a separate verified Facebook post, Azad said he would return to journalism as executive editor of Daily Waadaa.

He wrote that after considering several opportunities, he decided to join the new daily out of his commitment to truth and professional integrity.

Azad also sought blessings and continued support as he begins what he described as a new chapter in his career.
