Operation of metro rail remained completely suspended for around 15 minutes in the morning while metro rail service from Uttara North to Pallabi Stations was halted for around one and a half hour in the afternoon.

The operation came to normalcy at 2:50am, Mohammad Abdur Rouf, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL) told The Daily Star at 2:55pm.

According to Abdur Rouf, the metro rail operation came to a halt at 1:32pm after a fault was detected at the signaling system at Uttara North Station. The service resumed after one of the two transformers, which fed the signaling system, became operational.

The operation between Pallabi Station to Motijheel resumed after 40 minutes and operation resumed in the entire line at 2:50pm, he said.

Earlier, the operation of the metro rail remained suspended for around 15 minutes due to malfunctioning of metro train door at Shewrapara station amid huge pressure of passengers, he said.
