Polytechnic students launch grand rally to realise demands

Polytechnic students have started their scheduled grand rally in the capital today, protesting recent attacks on their fellows and to realise their six-point demand.
The rally, organised under the banner of Karigori Chhatra Andolon Bangladesh, began around 12:00pm on the new road in front of the Dhaka Mohila Polytechnic Institute in Agargaon.
Earlier in the morning, students from various public and private polytechnic institutes gathered in front of Dhaka Polytechnic Institute. Around 11:00am, they brought out a protest procession from the venue.
The procession ended at Agargaon and joined the grand rally in front of the Dhaka Mohila Polytechnic Institute.
The announcement was made yesterday during a human chain organised in front of Dhaka Polytechnic Institute.
Today's rally comes a day after students staged a "Rise in Red" programme where they wrapped red cloths around their campuses as a form of symbolic protest.
On Friday, students marched wearing white burial shrouds (kafon), symbolising their deep frustration and anger.
Previously on Wednesday, students from both public and private polytechnic institutes blockaded the busy Saat Rasta intersection in Tejgaon from 10:00am to 6:00pm, demanding fulfilment of their six-point charter.
On Thursday, they announced a railway blockade, which was later postponed following a call to attend a meeting at the Secretariat.
