Newborn's body recovered from hospital toilet in Jashore

A newborn's body was recovered from the toilet of Ibne Sina Hospital in Jashore town last night.
Police reached the hospital around 11:30pm and recovered the body.
A cleaner working during the night shift found the body wrapped in polythene in a basket at a toilet in the female sample collection room, said Jashore Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-charge (OC) Abul Hasnat.
The cleaner immediately informed the hospital authorities and then they informed police, the OC said.
Asif Newaz, the hospital's senior assistant manager, said that after receiving the news, he along with other officials quickly rushed there and took the newborn to the emergency department. The doctor on duty declared it dead, the official added.
Later, the police were informed. On receiving the news, a team of Kotwali Police Station reached the hospital and took the newborn's body.
OC Hasnat said, "We have started investigation of the incident. Further legal action will be taken after the autopsy report."
