A voluntary organisation in Kishoreganj is once again distributing iftar at Tk 2 among underprivileged and low-income people during Ramadan like every year.

The organisation provides iftar to people from various walks of life -- pedestrians, students, rickshaw pullers, and van drivers -- every year during the holy month.

This year, Muslah Production has extended support to the programme.

Iftar distribution took place at several key locations in the Kishoreganj town, including Sholakia and Puranthana. Each packet contained dates, chickpeas, puffed rice, vegetables, chop, beguni, jilapi, and water.

Under the initiative of “Kishoreganj Volunteers”, about 200 people received iftar today.

During the visit, a long queue of rickshaw and van drivers, along with working-class people, was seen near the Sholakia Eidgah bridge, waiting to collect their packets.

They accepted the food with smiles, paying just two taka. Those unable to pay were given the packets free of charge.

Kishoreganj Volunteers, which began its journey during the COVID-19 pandemic, has been conducting social and humanitarian programmes every year with its own funding. In continuation of this, the organisation runs the “Two Taka Iftar” and sehri distribution programmes throughout Ramadan.

Mojahidul Islam, founder of Kishoreganj Volunteers, said, “Like every year, we are conducting iftar service programmes for the underprivileged. This humanitarian initiative will continue in the future.”

Mahmudul Hasan, a member of the organisation, added, “Many underprivileged people struggle to break their fast with proper meals. This initiative is taken every year, keeping their needs in mind.”

The programme is being carried out by volunteers, including Umar Nasif, Tashrif Hasan, Mahbub Al Hasan, HM Shaon, Nowfel Ahmed, and many other young members of the organisation.
