DU observes Flag Hoisting Day
The Flag Hoisting Day was observed at the Bot Tola premises adjacent to the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University today.
Students from the Departments of Music and Dance performed the national anthem, patriotic songs, and dances.
The programme was inaugurated by DU Vice‑Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan, who hoisted the national flag.
The event was presided over by Pro‑Vice‑Chancellor (Administration) Prof Sayema Haque Bidisha, with Pro‑Vice‑Chancellor (Academic) Prof Mamun Ahmed and Treasurer Prof M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury attending as special guests.
Dean of the Faculty of Arts and programme coordinator, Prof Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, delivered the welcome address, while Acting Registrar Munsi Shams Uddin Ahmed conducted the programme.
In his speech, Prof Niaz reflected on the nation’s historical milestones, saying they shape identity and unity. He expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the country’s journey, stressing that their sacrifices are remembered with deep respect.
He reaffirmed Dhaka University’s commitment to stand beside the nation and its people. He expressed hope that the national flag would continue to inspire and unite the nation.
Teachers, students, officers, staff, and senior university officials including deans, provosts, and proctor were present.
Veteran political leader ASM Abdur Rab was invited as guest of honour but could not attend due to illness.
