Fatema Begum returns home with her child by a boat after fetching water for her family from a tube well at Chakgona village of Bagerhat’s Rampal upazila on Thursday. Several thousand residents of four villages, affected by salinity for many years, depend on this tube well for safe water. Fatema goes to Chakgona, about two kilometres away from her home, once a week to collect water.
