Asia Pharma Expo 2026 opens in Purbachal
The 17th Asia Pharma Expo 2026 and Asia Lab Expo 2026 began today at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Purbachal, with a focus on promoting innovation, collaboration and advancement in the pharmaceutical sector.
Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain inaugurated the three-day event at the venue.
More than 400 companies from over 20 countries are participating in the expos, showcasing technologies in pharmaceutical processing and packaging, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and excipients, laboratory and analytical instruments, cleanroom and HVAC systems, water management, and turnkey project solutions, organisers said.
Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries has been organising the event since 2003, said its president Abdul Muktadir. He noted that only 40 companies took part in the first expo, compared to 400 participating this year.
Talking to reporters after the inauguration ceremony, the minister said Abdul Muktadir had donated five ventilators, with more than a dozen to be provided later.
Four of the ventilators would be handed over to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital tomorrow to support children infected with measles, he said.
The minister further said that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure treatment of measles patients across the country.
