If your film is good, it will find its audience: Rajkummar Rao
Famed Indian star, Rajkummar Rao stunned the entertainment industry with back-to-back hit projects, including "Made in China", "HIT: The First Case", and "Stree", amongst many others.
Now, the actor is preparing for the release of his upcoming film, "Bheed", which is all set to hit theatres on March 24.
During a recent interview, the actor opened up about his views on the best PR strategies to promote a film. Rao attested, "I believe word of mouth is the biggest PR strategy these days. If your film is good, it will find its audience. Especially for a medium-budget film, if you do not give them (the audience) a big screen experience, you have to give them something different."
"It has to be something engaging for the audience. Only then can you talk about a film. Right now, I feel the only PR that is necessary is word of mouth," added the actor.
The actor believes that the language barrier is no longer an issue when it comes to telling good stories. He shared, "If a film like 'Kantara' can travel the whole country... I may be sitting in Mumbai and then say 10 people are asking me if you have seen 'Kantara'? Just because the film was so good, people had to talk about it and then I went to see it. That is the best PR strategy... Make a good film and let the word travel."
He continued, "The good thing is, people now also expect us to focus on our stories. The story has to be engaging and it has to tell us something."
Speaking about "Bheed", the actor mentioned that while the film may be set during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is about hope and resilience.
Rajkummar Rao was last seen in the film, "HIT: The First Case". After "Bheed" appears on the silver screen, the actor will also be making his web-series debut with Netflix's upcoming project, "Guns and Gulaabs".
