First look from ‘Bheed’ reveals the sad reality of marginalised workers
The first-look teaser for Anubhav Sinha's socio-political thriller, "Bheed", which stars Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar, is out now. The monochrome teaser introduces the film's lead characters and showcases the struggles of marginalised workers during the 2020 nationwide lockdown.
On his Instagram, Rajkummar Rao captioned the teaser, "A crisis that created borders within the country and its people."
The new teaser begins with glimpses of workers returning in crowded trains, buses, and even on foot to their villages, as the government imposed a nationwide lockdown—that halted all non-essential activities, robbing the poor of their livelihood.
In the background, Rajkummar narrates, "We went to the city because there was no work in the villages, and we returned because there was no work in the city. There is never any provision for the poor."
The scene is followed by brief glimpses of Kritika Kamra as a journalist, Ashutosh Rana and Rajkummar Rao as police officers, Dia Mirza on the verge of having a breakdown, a worried Bhumi Pednekar as a medical professional, and Pankaj Kapur. The captivating teaser concludes with Rajkummar Rao on foot, chasing someone.
"Bheed" was shot in black and white by director Anubhav Sinha, with the aim to draw parallels between the country's pandemic-induced lockdown and the 1947 partition. "This is a story about people whose lives were changed in an instant and who lost their colours when the border was drawn within the country," Anubhav Sinha shared.
