The "Nobin-Probin Natyamela" organised by Natyatirtha finally begins today. The festival will open this evening at 7 pm with the play "Kanthanalite Surjo". Organised with the support of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The theatre festival will continue until December 26. Plays will be staged every evening at the main auditorium of the National Theatre Hall of Shilpakala Academy.

The Academy had temporarily suspended all programs from December 19 following Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus's announcement of state mourning on December 20 in response to the death of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, co-founder and spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho. Following the mourning period, the Academy announced that pre-scheduled programs and exhibitions would resume normally.

Today's opening play "Kanthanalite Surjo" was written by poet and playwright Mohit Chattopadhyay as his first full-length original play.

The story revolves around a mythological atmosphere. A stranger arrives at a clinic one day claiming that the sun is stuck in his throat, and he has been carrying it for many days. He comes seeking a decision whether to remove the sun or keep it in his heart forever. This strange claim creates laughter, questions, and conflicts among the characters present at the clinic, through which the play progresses.
