“Meu”, Chorki’s latest original film, is set to premiere at midnight on March 4. Directed by Atiq Zaman, the film explores the fragile yet enduring bonds within a family while raising a humane question about how deeply people care for the animals that depend on them.

At its core, “Meu” portrays a household where love, resentment, responsibility and silent dependence coexist. The presence of a pet cat adds a distinct emotional dimension, functioning both as a witness and a catalyst in the family’s shifting dynamics. According to the director, however, the film’s true strength lies in its portrayal of familial complexities; the fractures, reconciliations and unspoken emotions that shape everyday life.

The cast includes Sadia Ayman, Afsana Mimi, Afzal Hossain, Ishtiaq Ahmed Rumel, Rakib Hossain Evon and Azizul Hakim. Mimi plays the family’s mother and described her character as the quiet authority who holds the household together. “In every family, the mother is a political character,” she said.

Adding authenticity to the narrative is Sadia Ayman’s real-life cat, Alu, who appears in the film. The actress noted that the story resonates with her own childhood memory of a beloved cat named Meu, who went missing.
