Events and exhibitions to resume at Shilpakala from tomorrow
The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has announced that all previously scheduled events and exhibitions will resume from December 21, 2025, following the conclusion of the state mourning period.
In a statement shared on its official Facebook page, the academy clarified that its programmes were temporarily suspended from December 19 after Professor Muhammad Yunus, in a national address, declared December 20, 2025 a day of state mourning over the death of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi. The decision to pause activities was taken in consideration of the overall situation, pending further instructions.
However, the academy noted that several online news portals, including bdnews24.com, along with multiple Facebook pages, reported that all activities of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy had been shut down for an indefinite period. The academy said such reports had come to its attention and described them as inaccurate and unfortunate.
In its clarification, the academy stated that there was no decision to suspend activities indefinitely and that only a temporary pause was observed during the state mourning period.
"All pre-scheduled events and exhibitions at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy will continue as normal from December 21, 2025, following the end of state mourning," the statement read.
The academy also requested cooperation from audiences, well-wishers and members of the media to help ensure accurate dissemination of information.
The statement was signed by Mahmudul Haque Jihad, Public Relations Officer (additional charge) of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
