Bangladesh unique example of religious harmony: President Hamid

Noting that Bangladesh is a unique example of religious harmony, President Abdul Hamid today urged all to remain alert so that no one can make any evil gain using religion.

"We have to be inspired with the mentality of restraint and sacrifice to establish peace, harmony and welfare in society with the teaching of Qurbani. All have to remain alert so that no one can make any evil gain using religion," he said.

The president was talking to media during a reception marking the holy Eid-ul-Azha at Bangabhaban in the morning.

President Hamid hosted the reception to senior government officials, city elite and diplomats.

Observing that Bangladesh is a unique example of communal harmony in the world, Abdul Hamid said, "The people of all faiths here perform their own religious rituals freely. This is unparalleled tradition of our harmony."

The Chief Justice, ministers, state ministers attended the reception.

Besides, judges of the Supreme Court, members of parliament, cabinet secretary, the chiefs of the three services, secretaries, senior lawyers, representatives of the business community, religious personalities, artistes, high civil and military officials joined the reception.

The Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, ambassadors and high commissioners of different countries in Bangladesh also attended the reception.

The President and his wife welcomed the guests, exchanged Eid greetings with them and wished them a prosperous life.
