2 Ctg cops held over gold snatching
Three persons including two policemen have been arrested over an incident of snatching gold from a trader in Chittagong city back in September 21.
Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Mizanur Rahman and Constable Khane Alam were closed after their arrest this afternoon, reports our Chittagong correspondent.
The other arrestee is Md Alamin -- who was held Monday night with four of the snatched gold bars, weighing 600 grams, said Md Mostafa, second officer of Kotwali Police Station.
The information of involvement of the two policemen was quizzed out from him. The policemen were arrested around 4:00pm today, Mostafa said.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Jasim Uddin confirmed The Daily Star of the arrests and said they were closed immediately. “They will be produced before court.”
On September 21, gold trader Dolan Biswas was travelling in a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw on his way to Chittagong rail station with gold bars weighing 1.6 kilogrammes.
He was stopped by three persons who identified themselves as law enforcers. They took away all the gold from his position. Later, Dolan filed a case with Kotwali police.
