Bangladesh gets record $27 billion in remittance in 2024
Remittance inflow made a new record in 2024 in the history of Bangladesh when migrant workers and non-resident Bangladeshis sent home nearly $27 billion.
The amount was also 23 percent higher than the previous year, according to data released by the Bangladesh Bank.
In the last month of 2024, migrant workers sent home $2.63 billion, another record for a single month and 33 percent high year-on-year.
The previous record of remittance—one of the biggest pillars of Bangladesh's roughly $450 billion economy—was $22 billion that came in 2021, according to the official data.
