IDRA chairman resigns
M Aslam Alam, chairman of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA), resigned from his post today, citing personal reasons.
In a letter to the Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division, Alam stepped down from the post.
Saifunnahar Sumi, spokesperson for IDRA, said Alam had announced his decision to resign at a meeting nearly two weeks ago.
The interim government appointed Alam as the chairman of IDRA in September 2024.
Alam was the 10th chairman of the IDRA.
The development comes following the removal of former central bank governor Ahsan H Mansur the previous week.
