Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka, Vikram Doraiswami, today said that he is hopeful about resuming air operation between India and Bangladesh "very quickly."

He said this to reporters following a courtesy call to Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader at the minister's secretariat office today.

He, however, said it would take "more time" to issue Indian tourist visa due to this pandemic.

"We have already resumed our visa process. We encourage our Bangladeshi partners to start their applications. Almost all visa categories are covered... I am pressing very hard to reopen all visa services," he said.

"(Issues regarding) air bubble await final agreement from our partners here," he said.

Talking to reporters, Obaidul Quader said, both countries are hopeful about solving the issues related to water sharing of interlinked rivers including Teesta. Positive development has already been made in this regard, he said.
