Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman and veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan are set to headline the overseas lineup in the IPL 2026 auction.

Mustafizur, renowned for his variations in the death overs, has set a maximum base price of Rs 2 crore, while Shakib, an IPL regular with 71 matches across nine seasons, has opted for a reserve price of Rs 1 crore.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the IPL released a long list of 1,355 players on Monday after the registration deadline closed on November 30. Among these, 45 players—including Mustafizur, Cameron Green, Liam Livingstone, Ravi Bishnoi, Venkatesh Iyer, Matheesha Pathirana, and Wanindu Hasaranga—have listed the maximum base price of Rs 2 crore. With a maximum squad size of 25 per franchise, only 77 slots are available at the auction, including 31 for overseas players.

Franchises now have until December 5 to submit their shortlists, after which the IPL will finalise the players eligible for the auction. The single-day auction is scheduled for December 16 in Abu Dhabi, where franchises will bid aggressively to fill their remaining slots.

Teams such as Kolkata Knight Riders (Rs 64.3 crore) and Chennai Super Kings (Rs 43.4 crore) have the deepest purses and are expected to lead the bidding wars. KKR, in particular, could target Australian allrounder Cameron Green to fill the void left by Andre Russell's retirement. Green, who missed the 2025 mega-auction due to a back injury, offers versatility as a batter, seamer, and top-class fielder.

Several players released by franchises in 2025 have also listed themselves in the highest reserve price bracket. Sri Lanka's Matheesha Pathirana, CSK's lead bowler last season, is back after injury struggles.
England's Liam Livingstone, who lasted only one season with Royal Challengers Bangalore, and India's Venkatesh Iyer, released by KKR after being bought for 23.5 crore at last year's mega-auction, are also part of the 2 crore bracket. Legspinner Ravi Bishnoi, retained by Lucknow Super Giants for 11 crore last year but released due to inconsistent performances, has joined them.

Some notable absentees include Australian allrounder Glenn Maxwell, who missed part of the 2025 season due to a fractured finger, and wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis, whose availability for 2026 is limited to 25% due to personal reasons.

Other overseas stars in the INR 2 crore bracket include Mujeeb ur Rahman, Naveen ul Haq, Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Cooper Connolly, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Steve Smith, Gus Atkinson, Tom Banton, Tom Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Dan Lawrence, Tymal Mills, Jamie Smith, Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Adam Milne, Daryll Mitchell, Will O'Rourke, Rachin Ravindra, Gerald Coetzee, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Rilee Roussouw, Tabraiz Shamsi, David Wiese, Maheesh Theekshana, Jason Holder, Shai Hope, Akeal Hosein, and Alzarri Joseph.
