The report is based on Gallup World Poll data collected from people in over 140 countries. This study is a collaboration between Gallup, the Oxford Wellbeing Research Centre, the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and an editorial board.

Participants rate their overall life satisfaction, and rankings are determined based on these evaluations. The report also considers six key factors that influence life satisfaction: GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom, generosity, and perceptions of corruption.
