Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Kaisar Khosru has been ordered to be made officer on special duty (OSD) for verbally abusing a local journalist over the phone, said Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam today (July 25, 2022).

"We've already instructed to withdraw him, making him OSD immediately. And then action will be taken against him as per what instructions will be passed by the High Court." he said while briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting at the secretariat here.

All the divisional commissioners have also been instructed to sit in with all officers to discuss their etiquette and behaviour.

Meanwhile, Cox's Bazar district administration yesterday (July 24, 2022) issued a show-cause notice against Khosru.

The accused UNO on July 21, phoned a local journalist and verbally insulted him using objectionable words while questioning why he made a report on the houses constructed under the Ashrayan-2 project.

Following this, an audio record of the call went viral on social media that sparked huge criticism.
