Accidental deaths: 2 die in separate incidents in Jashore

A man died of electrocution while another succumbed to injuries after falling from a roof following an electric shock in Jashore yesterday.

Bappi Biswas, 26, a mason from Dolennagar village in Sadar upazila, died while undergoing treatment at Jashore General Hospital last night.

Ashraful Islam Biswas, brother of the deceased, said Bappi was cutting bamboo on the roof of a house belonging to Alok Biswas in the afternoon when he came in contact with a live electric wire. After being electrocuted, Bappi fell onto the concrete floor from the rooftop.

Later, locals rescued him and admitted him to Jashore General Hospital, where he died later.

Jashore General Hospital Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr Bazlur Rashid said, "Bappi Biswas died due to serious injuries after falling from the rooftop. He died in the hospital while undergoing treatment. The body was handed over to his family at night."

In another incident, Bellal Hossain, 30, of Khakundi village in Monirampur upazila, died after being electrocuted.

Police said Bellal was operating a paddy threshing machine powered by an electric motor at his house in Khakundi village under Monoharpur union on the afternoon when he was electrocuted.

Monirampur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Milan Hossain said, "Upon receiving information, police visited the spot ...The body has been sent to the Jashore General Hospital morgue for autopsy."
