Bangladesh is a food bonanza, says chef Kiran Jethwa

Kiran Jethwa, is a global 'gastronaut' and has traversed the world in search of adventurous and unique cuisines and cultures.

From hunting with eagles in Mongolia to deep sea diving for fish in Mozambique, Jethwa has experienced the dangers and thrills that people face daily for a living--for a meal.

This time, the Fearless Chef, expands his radar and travels the length of Bangladesh, one of the world's top fish producing nations, and discovers that the country's fishing industry is as diverse as it can be dangerous.

He visits Karwan Bazar, a gigantic whole-sale kitchen market in busy Dhaka where produce from all over the country is collected and later distributed across the capital.

The 39-year-old food-lover is not faint of heart as he goes on a thrilling train-top journey risking his head in the process, visits the largest mangrove swamp in the world in the sweltering heat and goes fishing with otters- a unique fishing technique characteristic of this region.

The Kenyan born has an English mother and an Indian father and the influence of the two cultures can be clearly seen in his cooking style.

He completed a BSc in hospitality management in Manchester and then travelled all over the world, from the US to Italy, France, South Africa, South East Asia, South and Central America and Australia to mould his professional abilities and broaden his palate.
