Tigers’ five-wicket collapse against India an accident: Razzak

Bangladesh national selector Abdur Razzak has called the Tigers' five-wicket collapse against India in an ICC Champions Trophy group-stage fixture "an accident" and assured that such a calamity wouldn't take place in the next match against New Zealand.
Disaster struck for Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday when five of their top six batters were in the pavilion within the first 10 overs for just 35 runs after the Tigers opted to bat first in their opening fixture.
"We lost five wickets like that in one match. It's better not to drag that along," Razzak told reporters during a training session at the Rawalpindi Stadium on Saturday.
Towhid Hridoy notched up his maiden century and Jaker Ali scored a half-century; the duo put on a record 154-run sixth-wicket stand to rescue Bangladesh from imminent doom but the Tigers folded for a meagre 228, a total which India chased down with six wickets in hand and 21 balls to spare.
"It was an accident. We are not a team like that. It happened accidentally. It's not right to say they are not among the runs. Our top-order form is not too bad in ODIs. We just did poorly in the last match. Other than that, everything is fine. Nothing like this will happen in the next match."
Batting, particularly at the top, has been a major concern for Bangladesh. Current openers Soumya Sarker and Tanzid Tamim have blown hot and cold, while skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto has consistently struggled for runs. Shanto's abysmal run had also pushed him out of the Fortune Barishal side in the Bangladesh Premier League T20 which concluded two weeks ago. Overall, reliability and assuredness are lacking in plenty in Bangladesh's top order ranks and the Tigers will hope to find a quick fix if they are to push New Zealand to the brink in their second match on Monday.
