A twist on your iftar platter

Add new exciting choices to your standard iftar items.
Eating the same iftar items can get boring, so why not change things up. Photo: Sazzad Ibne Sayed

With a tangy orange juice and the same old peyaju and beguni, you probably are not thinking of spending every iftar with fried chicken and onion rings. However, a change from time to time for your month-long iftar meal is a change you can enjoy.
Nevertheless, my fellow food enthusiasts, it is important to keep your meals healthy and fun at the same time!

ALMOND DRINK WITH A CHANGE
After taking a bite of a delicious date, it is important for you to drink water than to sip on juice or smoothie. Sugar intake for 30 days straight might not be the best choice if you want to be happy when you stand on a scale.
Almond milk is made by blending almonds with water and then straining the mixture to remove the residue. It can also be made by adding water to almond butter.
You can also add yoghurt to almond milk to make it creamy and sweet.
Almond milk has much more nutrients when it is watered down. It is rich in vitamin D, calcium, protein and most importantly, it is low in calories.

VEGETABLE CUTLET

Vegetable cutlets are an extremely intelligent fun snack for children. The main goal of vegetable cutlet is to have different vegetables made into a snack, which will be equally delicious and healthy.

A vegetable cutlet can be the replacement of a chicken cutlet that you may serve on yourself guilt free. You can also add a dash chicken to your vegetable cutlet to have that familiar taste. However, it is important to keep in mind not to deep fry this snack because the health benefits might soak in with the oil. A good choice is rice bran oil, or olive oil.

THANK GOD FOR DOI BORA!

This amazing meal gives you sweet, sour, spicy and minty joy all at the same time. The deep fried lentil balls soaked in yoghurt and other spices gives it a soft, spongy taste. You simply cannot go wrong with this blend of flavours.

SPICE UP YOUR FRUIT SALAD

Custard fruit salad and cream fruit salads are great but then again, at times it may get boring and you might just not love the sweet indulgence added to that creamy citrus flavour. To bring a twist to this you need to up your game.
Bring in all the different spices from the kitchen, because it is time to have some roadside fruit mix right at your iftar plate.
Blending all sorts of fruits with chilli flakes, salt, pepper, cinnamon and a little bit of sugar can bring in so much joy.
This salad bowl will be a fresh and healthy tango dance in your mouth.
