Housewife killed ‘by husband’ over family row in Mirpur

A housewife was allegedly beaten to death by her husband over a family row in Dhaka's Mirpur area early this morning.

The deceased Rizia Akter (45), who used to live with her family in a house at Block-B in Mirpur, bore injuries to her head and other parts of the body, sources claimed.

Victim's son Md Joy alleged that his parents were locked in an altercation around 4:00am and at one stage, his father Jahir Uddin Babar beat his mother, leaving her critically injured.

She was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. where doctors declared her dead.

Sub-inspector Jahangir Hossain of Mirpur Police Station said they detained Jahir after the incident.

Kalam Uddin, elder brother of the victim, said the couple had three daughters and a son.

"My sister never complained of family rows. I have no idea why he (Jahir) killed my sister," Kalam said.
