Bangladesh reported its first dengue death of the year in 24 hours till this morning.

The death has been reported in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

During this period, 56 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever, bringing the total number of cases to 221, it added.

Of the new cases, nine dengue patients were admitted to hospital under DNCC while 12 were hospitalised in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

Currently, 436 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.

Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.

According to the DGHS, there were 101,214 dengue cases and 100,040 recoveries in 2024.
