This real-life Bollywood couple reflects ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’

Karan Johar, who made a triumphant return to the director's chair after a seven-year hiatus with the blockbuster romantic drama "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani", has recently shared a unique source of inspiration for the film's lead characters, Rocky and Rani, portrayed by Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.

In a recent interview with Mid-Day, the renowned filmmaker suggested that he might have been "subconsciously" influenced by the incredible bond between Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna when creating the characters of Rocky and Rani.

He emphasised the deep friendship and comfort shared by the celebrity couple, which he personally observed during their interactions. Karan remarked on the genuine humour they find in each other and how that dynamic inspired the idea that people from diverse backgrounds and social strata can indeed discover love.

He added that individuals often limit themselves to certain comfort zones when seeking relationships, but love can unexpectedly blossom anywhere.

"Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani" not only stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt but also features an ensemble cast including Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Churni Ganguly, Aamir Bashir, Kshitee Jog, Anjali Anand, and Namit Das. The film boasts a musical score by Pritam and lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Despite facing competition from major releases like Sunny Deol's "Gadar 2", Akshay Kumar's "OMG 2" and Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan", Karan Johar's movie continues to run in select theaters across the country.
