OTT stars to land on the red carpet today

The third edition of ‘Blender’s Choice The Daily Star OTT & Digital Content Awards’ is set to unfold this evening, promising to celebrate the finest talents in the OTT industry.

Over the past two years, the awards have spotlighted outstanding achievements in the vibrant digital entertainment sector, and this year's event at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) Hall of Fame, starting at 4:30pm, is no exception.  

Spanning 30 categories, the awards will honour excellence in both Popular and Critics' segments, including 12 Critics' and nine Popular awards. Additionally, there are five categories each for music and individual content.

In the Best Director (Popular, Film) category, nominees include Mizanur Rahman Aryan ("Unish20"), Raihan Rafi ("Friday"), Rubel Hasan ("Nikosh"), Shihab Shaheen ("Baba Someone's Following Me"), and Vicky Zahed ("Kajoler Dinratri"). The web-series category has also seen a leap forward, with nominations for Ashfaque Nipun ("Mohanagar 2"), Shankha Dasgupta ("Guti"), Shihab Shaheen ("Myself Allen Swapan"), Tanim Rahman Angshu ("Buker Moddhye Agun"), and Vicky Zahed ("Ami Ki Tumi").  

In the Critics' category for Best Actor, Siam Ahmed received a nomination for his performance in "Punormilone". Nasir Uddin Khan, last year's winner in the Negative Role category, has now been nominated for his lead role in "Myself Allen Swapan". Mosharraf Karim's consistent brilliance in "Mohanagar 2", Ziaul Faruq Apurba's reinvention in "Buker Moddhye Agun", and Mostafizur Noor Imran's compelling portrayal in "Jahan" have added depth to this fiercely competitive lineup.  

In the Popular category, Mosharraf Karim ("Mohanagar 2") stands out for his portrayal of OC Harun, while Nasir Uddin Khan ("Myself Allen Swapan"), Shamol Mawla ("The Silence"), FS Nayeem ("Mission Huntdown"), and Ziaul Faruq Apurba ("Buker Moddhye Agun") join him in the race.  

The Best Actor, Female (Critics) category features stellar performances from Mehazabien Chowdhury ("Ami Ki Tumi"), Nazia Haque Orsha ("Jahan"), Azmeri Haque Badhan ("Guti"), Tasnia Farin ("Nikosh"), and Tama Mirza ("Friday"). In the Popular category, nominees include Azmeri Haque Badhan ("Guti"), Tasnia Farin ("Nikosh"), Rafiath Rashid Mithila ("Myself Allen Swapan"), Tama Mirza ("Friday"), and Shahnaz Sumi ("Mobaraknama").  

Villains continue to captivate audiences in recent productions. Abdun Noor Shajal broke stereotypes with his portrayal of Lucifer in "The Silence", while Afran Nisho's portrayal of a lawyer in "Sharey Showlo", Irfan Sajjad's performance in "Baba Someone's Following Me", Mostafa Monwar's role in "Procholito", and Nasir Uddin Khan's character in "Guti" have all earned nominations.  

Supporting actors have made equally strong impressions, with Abu Hurayra Tanvir ("Buker Moddhye Agun"), Dibya Joyti ("Mohanagar 2"), FS Nayeem ("Overtrump"), Partho Sheikh ("Odrisshyo"), and Shashwta Datta ("Punormilone") vying for the male category, while Bijori Barkatullah ("The Silence"), Makhnun Sultana Mahima ("Nikosh"), Mousumi Hamid ("Guti"), Shilpi Sarker Apu ("Mobaraknama"), and Tanzika Amin ("Mohanagar 2") represent the female category.  

The red carpet will be hosted by rising stars Sarah Alam and Shommo Joyti, while the event itself will be anchored by FS Nayeem, Naziba Basher, Azra Mahmood, and Rafsan Shabab. Notable productions such as "Ami Ki Tumi", "Guti", "Mobaraknama", "Mohanagar 2", and "Myself Allen Swapan" will compete for Best Drama/Series in the Popular category, while "Baba Someone's Following Me", "Friday", "Nikosh", "Punormilone", and "Unish20" vie for Best Film.  

The evening will be enlivened by performances from Pritom Hasan and his band, Elita Karim, Tashfee, Tama Mirza, Mumtaheena Chowdhury Toya, Shahnaz Sumi, and the Alifia Squad, promising a night of surprises and celebration.
