Mousumi Mou brings glimpse of Baishakh to South Korea
Anchor, actor, and mime artiste Mousumi Mou was recently invited to South Korea, by the Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul, where the expatriates of Bangladesh celebrated the Bengali New Year (1430) on May 7.
The artiste was accompanied by dancer Jahurul Haque and Abu Bakar—who helped in sound management—from Dhaka. Renowned mime artiste Mir Lokman joined them from South Korea.
Mou and Srijon had duet performances reflecting the Bengali culture and the beauty of the Bengali seasons all year round, along with a mixture of the native festivals in their presentations.
Mir Lokman's mime act in "Otopor Bhalobasha" and "Water Crisis" was staged. At the same time, Mousumi Mou acted in the mime play "No More Suicide".
The programme was presented by Samuel Murmu and Mispe Soren, the first and second secretaries of the Bangladesh Embassy in South Korea. Bangladeshi Ambassador to South Korea, Delwar Hossain delivered the opening speech at the programme. The embassy officials also performed chorus music.
To celebrate the Bengali New Year 1430 through this event, the South Korean expatriates brought their own, home-cooked Bengali cuisines.
