Leonardo DiCaprio’s ‘One Battle After Another’ to release in Bangladesh on global premiere day

Hollywood superstar Leonardo DiCaprio returns to the big screen with his much-anticipated film "One Battle After Another", set for worldwide release on September 26. Bangladeshi audiences will get to experience the epic action-thriller on the same day, with Star Cineplex confirmed as the local distributor.
Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film is inspired by Thomas Pynchon's 1990 novel "Vineland" and has reportedly been in the works for over two decades. DiCaprio plays one of the central roles, with the cast also featuring Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, and Chase Infinity. Speaking to the BBC, DiCaprio described the project as "a mirror of society," highlighting how it reflects cultural division and polarisation, though presented with layers of satire and entertainment.
Blending political satire, black comedy, and high-octane action, the film has already earned critical praise. The Guardian called it "a story of dissent, protest, and the isolated hero — something rarely seen in today's America."
The plot follows a group of former revolutionaries who reunite after 16 years to rescue a comrade's daughter, setting the stage for a gripping mix of politics and personal struggle. For his performance, DiCaprio reportedly earned $20 million (around Tk 243 crore).
Production began in June 2023, with principal shooting taking place across various U.S. locations in 2024. Initially titled "The Battle of Bactan Cross", the film was later renamed "One Battle After Another".
Anderson, whose "There Will Be Blood" (2007) was a massive success, is expected to deliver another milestone work with this collaboration alongside DiCaprio. For Bangladeshi cinephiles, the film's same-day release adds to the excitement, offering a rare opportunity to experience a Hollywood premiere in real time.
