25th National Art Exhibition underway at BSA today
The 25th National Art Exhibition will commence today at the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). The event will feature 301 artworks by 261 artists. Moreover, Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud will be present as the chief guest at the programme.
The event will begin at 6pm and State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid will inaugurate the exhibition. Independence Award-winning artist Hashem Khan and Cultural Affairs secretary Khalil Ahmed will be present as special guests at the inaugural ceremony, which will be presided over by Liaquat Ali Lucky.
The artworks for the exhibition were chosen by a five-member committee comprised of Ahmed Shamsuddoha, Saidul Haque, Kanak Chanpa Chakma, Mokhlesur Rahman, Mahabub Jamal Shamim, and Mofizul Islam.
The top artworks were chosen by a jury panel comprised of Monirul Islam, Abdul Mannan, Ranjit Das, Luva Nahid Choudhury, Mostafizul Haque, and Tausif Ur Rahman.
At the program, BSA will present the Media Best Award to eleven artists and the Honourable Mention Award to five artists from other categories.
In addition, the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Award 2023 and five awards sponsored by various organizations will be presented during the programme.
The event will run from May 28-July 16 and the exhibition will be open from 11 am to 8 pm, except on Fridays, when it will be open from 3 to 8 pm. The exhibition will be closed from June 26 to July 2 in observance of Eid-ul-Azha.
