A national workshop will be organised in April to finalise the draft of road transport act, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said today.

Opinions of all stakeholders related to road transport will be taken into consideration at the event, the minister told reporters after attending an inter-ministerial meeting at Bangladesh Secretariat.

Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and state minister for Local Government and Rural Development Mashiur Rahman Ranga attended the meeting.

Quader said a committee headed by Ranga has been formed to resist hike in body chassis of trucks and covered vans. The committee will submit a report with necessary recommendations by April 30.

The body will have representatives from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Roads and Highways, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority, transport owners and workers federation, said the minister.
