Slain secular activist Nazim Uddin Samad was buried at his family graveyard at Baraut village in Bianibazar upazila of Sylhet today.

An ambulance carrying the body reached his village at 6:00am today, said Nazim's brother Shamim Uddin who came from London for the burial.

The namaz-e-janaza of Nazim was held at a local mosque at 11:00am, he said.

"I received the body from Sir Salimullah Medical College morgue in Dhaka at 11:20pm yesterday," he added.

Among others, activists of Sylhet and Biyanibazar Gonojagoron Mancha were present in the janaza.

Nazim, a law student at Jagannath University, was shot and hacked to death by unidentified assailants on the capital's Hrishikesh Das Lane on Wednesday night for what his friends and family believe was criticising fundamentalism.

Slain secular activist Nazim Uddin Samad was buried at his family graveyard at Baraut village in Bianibazar upazila of Sylhet today.
