Militant groups likely involved in Savar bank heist: Minister

State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said militant groups might have been involved in the Savar heist but the motive was unclear.

Asked about police claim that Jamaat men were involved in the robbery, the minister said, “The law enforcers are correct.”

“I have seen many burglaries, but the motive behind this one raises many questions,” the state minister said while talking to reporters after visiting the robbery scene this evening.

About eight to ten armed looters stormed into the Kathgora branch of Bangladesh Commerce Bank and shot down seven people, yesterday.

Locals managed to get hold of two robbers. One of them was beaten to death by the mob while the other was handed over to police.
