Rangpur medical interns postpone strike
Interns at Rangpur Medical College Hospital today postponed their indefinite strike after a meeting with the hospital authorities.
The interns went on an indefinite strike Friday afternoon protesting mugging incidents on the campus.
Around 2:00pm today, the interns sat with the authorities and postponed the strike after getting assurance from them of adequate security measures on the campus, ASM Barkatullah, director of the medical hospital, told our Rangpur correspondent.
The interns will go back to strike if the authorities fail to meet the demand shortly, Mahmudur Rahman Rifat, president of interns' association of the medical college, told the correspondent.
They went on the work abstention as one of their fellows was mugged in Shaheed Minar area of the hospital Thursday night.
