Prof Zafar Iqbal to return to campus today

Prof Muhammed Zafar Iqbal will re-join Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) today, said his personal secretary Joynal Abedin yesterday.

Dr Iqbal, a faculty member of computer science and engineering at Sust, was stabbed on the campus during a programme on March 3.

Police with the support of students and locals arrested the attacker, Foyzur Hasan, a self-radicalised youth.

The noted writer is in a stable condition now. He is scheduled to be released from Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka, in the morning while he will fly to Sylhet in the afternoon, Abedin said.

Dr Iqbal is willing to return to his work today, he added.

On March 8, a Sylhet court granted 10-day remand for Foyzur. Yesterday, the same court granted eight-day remand for Foyzur's brother Enamul Hasan, said Jalalabad police.
