Nur Hossain expelled as Narayanganj city councillor
Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the Narayanganj seven murder case, has been expelled from the councillor post of the city corporation as he was convicted for keeping wild birds at his residence illegally.
Local government ministry issued a circular on May 7 removing Nur Hossain from the councillor post of ward No.4 of Narayanganj City Corporation.
He has been expelled as per the section-13 under Local Government (City Corporation) Act-2009.
On September 30 last year, a Narayanganj court sentenced Nur Hossain to one-year imprisonment in the case filed under wildlife preservation Act.
Nur Hossain is now in an Indian jail following his arrest in Kolkata on June 14. He is facing the charges of entering the country illegally.
The NCC councillor fled the country following the murder of the city's panel mayor Nazrul Islam, senior lawyer Chandan Sarker and six others in April in 2014.
Their bodies were later found floating on the Shitalakhhya river.
