Jubo League man suspended
Jubo League has suspended a leader following his arrest on charge of attempting to take away tender documents at Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) in Dhaka.
The youth wing of the ruling Awami League in a press release today said Gazi Mazharul Islam, 57, Liberation War affairs secretary of Jubo League (South) in Dhaka, has been suspended for his alleged involvement in activities against the organisation's rules.
He was arrested along with five others by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) following the incident at Rajuk Bhaban yesterday.
The Rab men raided the Rajuk Bhaban around 3:00pm yesterday and arrested the six who were trying to snatch the tender documents of a Rajuk project.
Some 15 to 20 men were trying to snatch the tender files in front of police, the elite force said in a press release following the arrest.
Rajuk had floated the tender of Tk 30 crore for the construction of internal roads and surface drains at different sectors of Purbachal New Town Project. Yesterday was the last day for submitting the bidding documents.
Project Director Anwar Hossain, however, last night told The Daily Star that he knew nothing about the detainees or yesterday's incident.
