No VAT on metro rail fares until Dec 31 this year: NBR
The National Board of Revenue has exempted value-added tax on the tickets of metro rail, which got popularity since the beginning of its operation.
The tax administration announced the exception on metro rail fares through an order today and the decision came more than six months after discontinuing the benefit.
The VAT exemption benefit will be valid until December 31 this year.
Commutes through metro rail enjoyed VAT exemption on their fares until June 30 last year.
The NBR did not extend the benefit later despite request from metro rail authorities.
