Private sector must evolve with agility, innovation: Miarul Haque

Bangladesh's private sector must evolve with agility, innovation, and collaboration to remain competitive in a fast-changing global economy, said Md Miarul Haque, managing director of DHL Express Bangladesh.

Speaking at the 23rd Bangladesh Business Awards, jointly organised by DHL and The Daily Star, Haque noted: "Tonight we celebrate not only achievements, but also the resilience and foresight that define our business community."

Referencing Bangladesh's upcoming graduation from the least developed country category in 2026, he said the transition marks both an opportunity and a challenge.

"We must move from preference-driven growth to productivity-driven competitiveness," he said, citing outcomes from recent policy roundtables held by The Daily Star.

Haque underscored the urgency of improving logistics and infrastructure to strengthen trade competitiveness.

"Our future won't be shaped by ambition alone, but by building systems that scale and partnerships that endure," he added.

He concluded by applauding the evening's awardees and reaffirming DHL's commitment to powering Bangladesh's next phase of private sector-led growth.
