Banks asked to ensure women-friendly washrooms across all branches

By Star Business Report

The Bangladesh Bank today issued a directive to all scheduled banks operating in the country, instructing them to provide adequate women-friendly washroom facilities at their headquarters, regional offices, and branches.

In the directive, the central bank highlighted that the lack of sufficient washrooms for female employees and women clients is causing inconvenience and posing a significant barrier to creating a women-friendly work environment.

To address this, banks have been asked to construct, renovate, and maintain hygienic washrooms equipped with necessary sanitary supplies for women.

The directive has been issued under Section 45 of the Bank Companies Act, 1991, and is effective immediately.
